A snapshot of my rolling 5 year plan to develop my professional practice
I am a planner by nature and started thinking about what next, after this MFA, while curating the Crypt Exhibition in Oct last year. I spoke to a few of my colleges at the Private View and then found the Ugly Duck exhibition space. I put a project team together and we went on to create the Uncovered Collective and the Postopia exhibition. I felt it was important to have a group that we could belong to and create exciting opportunities with, once the safety of the University was no longer ours to claim. Other groups that I am a member of include the Surrey Sculpture Society who are very active in providing visibility for their members.
I am already involved with a number of groups that align with my practice. These include the charity FORWARD. I am developing a number of projects with groups such as the Procreate Project and am reaching out to established galleries that I would love to work with. These contacts will provide me with a number of exhibition opportunities.
I am currently artist in residence for the National Trust and will continue to develop my relationship with the amazing people that run some of the most beautiful and interesting properties in the country.
I plan to continue studying and am currently writing up a proposal for a PhD which I hope Maria Walsh at UAL will supervise.
I already teach and will continue to do so. I hope that the PhD will provide me with some opportunity to extend this skill.
